From Presale to Partnership: A Technology Journey with Miestro

This home began as a presale project with a homeowner who initially planned to use another technology provider. However, through early conversations, a deeper understanding of our process, culture, and collaborative approach led them to choose Miestro for the full design and integration of their home’s technology systems.

A key factor in that decision was Johnny Williams, the builder of the home. While Johnny has historically partnered with another technology firm, he also has extensive experience working with Miestro on complex custom projects. His confidence in our capabilities helped provide the new homeowner with the assurance that Miestro was the right fit for their vision.

What followed was a well-orchestrated design process focused on performance, simplicity, and seamless integration—every detail tailored to elevate the homeowner’s daily experience.

Lighting & Lighting Control: Designed for Simplicity and Elegance

For this home, Miestro provided smart lighting control throughout the primary entertaining areas—bringing both functionality and aesthetic balance to the spaces where first impressions matter most.

This project was another showcase of our Miestro FLEX lighting design, where we worked closely with the homeowner and electrical contractor to deliver a solution that matched the desired control level while maintaining budget clarity. The result? No more than two switches visible in any given area of the formal living space.

This contributes to what designers now refer to as a “quiet wall”—a subtle but powerful design principle that shifts the focus from technology back to the room’s architecture and interior design.

Each smart keypad includes custom engraved labels, making it easy for the homeowner and guests to identify which lights they’re controlling—removing the guesswork and enhancing everyday usability.

Precision Linear Lighting by Design

We also incorporated Klus linear lighting for under-cabinet and architectural features throughout the home. Each application was designed with intention and installed with Miestro’s signature attention to detail:

• Kitchen – Under-cabinet LED lighting for task and ambient light
• Wine Bar – Under-shelf linear lighting for subtle highlights and drama
• Laundry Room – Under-cabinet task lighting for function and clarity
• Cigar Lounge – In-floor lighting, custom RGB initials in the wall, and mud-in channel flush in the ceiling for an immersive, moody atmosphere
• Media Room – Mud-in ceiling channels in both 1” and ½” profiles, plus a perimeter pathway glow for indirect ambiance

And as always, our approach to linear lighting ensures lasting performance and premium finish:

• High-quality LED tape for consistent illumination
• Aluminum channels to dissipate heat and extend lifespan
• Diffused lenses for a smooth, elegant glow—no hotspots, no visible diodes

House Music: Even Coverage, Elevated Experience

For this home, Miestro delivered a whole-home audio system built on the Sonance VX Series—a high-performance speaker line known for its clarity, precision, and discreet design. Rather than focusing on traditional surround sound configurations, we designed each space for “Enhanced Audio”—an approach that provides even, immersive sound throughout the home, ideal for music and everyday media use.

Speaker Zones Include:

• Living Room – (4) in-ceiling speakers and (1) subwoofer for rich, full-bodied sound that enhances movies, background music, or casual listening
• Kitchen – (2) speakers for even coverage while cooking or entertaining
• Patio – (2) speakers installed in the wood ceiling, blending seamlessly into the design
• Sunroom – (4) speakers for full-room fill without overpowering the space
• Primary Bathroom – (2) speakers for a spa-like audio experience
• Upstairs Office – (2) speakers for focus, productivity, or background music
• Pool & Firepit Area – (8) landscape satellite speakers and (2) subwoofers, all hidden in the landscaping for powerful, invisible outdoor sound

Future-Proofing with Prewire

We also prewired the Primary Bedroom and Downstairs Office for future speaker installation—because some rooms grow into their technology needs over time. Wiring early, before drywall, saves cost and complexity later. When the time is right, the homeowner simply adds the speakers—no tearing into finished walls required.

Streaming, Simplified

The system supports all the major music platforms through the Control4 interface, including:

• Spotify
• Tidal
• Apple Music
• AirPlay streaming

And at the homeowner’s request, we enabled the ability to play TV audio through any of the connected zones, creating a flexible and unified listening experience throughout the home.

Whether you’re entertaining guests, relaxing in the bath, or watching the game from the patio, Miestro ensures the sound is always right—and always easy to control.

Outdoor Audio: Discreet Power with Sonance Garden Series

To bring music outdoors without disrupting the landscape design, Miestro installed the Sonance Garden Series around the pool and firepit area. This system features 8 satellite speakers and 2 buried subwoofers, delivering crystal-clear, full-range sound across the entire entertaining space.

The best part? It’s virtually invisible.

Speakers are hidden among the landscaping, allowing the homeowner and guests to enjoy immersive music without seeing where it’s coming from.

None of this is possible without the amazing partnership from Gurley’s Landscaping. After-all, we install discrete speakers so you can enjoy the beauty the landscape designers create.

The Vault: A Custom Music Room Where Design Meets Precision Audio

This one-of-a-kind music room—affectionately dubbed “The Vault”—is a tribute to both Prince’s legendary archive and the homeowner’s passion for immersive, high-fidelity sound. Designed as a cigar lounge and listening sanctuary, the space blends bold aesthetics with cutting-edge audio engineering to create an environment that’s as visually captivating as it is acoustically refined.

Lyngdorf FR-2 Speakers & TDAI-1120: Performance in Any Room

At the heart of the system are the Lyngdorf FR-2 floorstanding speakers, paired with the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 streaming amplifier. The FR-2s are uniquely designed for placement against walls, making them ideal for rooms where space and acoustics are challenging. Their shallow cabinets and downward-firing bass reflex ports deliver tight, impactful bass and a balanced soundstage, even in acoustically reflective environments.

Complementing the speakers, the TDAI-1120 amplifier features RoomPerfect™, Lyngdorf’s proprietary room correction technology. This system calibrates the speakers to the room’s acoustics, addressing issues like exaggerated bass or uneven imaging without the need for extensive acoustic treatments. The result is a precise and immersive listening experience, tailored specifically to the room’s characteristics.

Design Elements: A Tribute to Prince’s Legacy

The room’s design pays homage to Prince’s iconic style:

• Hidden 65” TV: Concealed behind a custom LED art panel featuring the homeowner’s initials, the TV is revealed via a Future Automation lift system, seamlessly integrating entertainment without disrupting the room’s aesthetic.
• Custom LED Accents: LED channels are embedded under the floating equipment furniture and flush with the hardwood floors, providing a subtle glow that enhances the room’s ambiance.
• Klus Linear Lighting: The ceiling features Klus flush LED linear channels, offering elegant and customizable lighting to suit any mood.
• Leather-Studded Door: A custom leather-studded door with controlled access adds a touch of luxury and exclusivity, reminiscent of a private vault.
• Artisan Wall Coverings: Custom wall coverings and a bespoke art wall, crafted by local artisans, complete the space, blending texture and visual interest.

Security & Surveillance: Awareness, Safety, and Peace of Mind

While Germantown, TN is widely regarded as one of the safest communities in the area, homeowners at this level still expect—and deserve—high-quality security solutions that go beyond the basics. For this project, the client emphasized that it wasn’t just about security—it was about complete awareness of what’s happening around the home at any time, especially with a pool on the property.

That’s why Miestro designed and installed a custom 360-degree camera system, giving the homeowner full visibility of the entire perimeter—from any room in the house.

Cameras Integrated into the Video System

The camera system is fully integrated into the home’s video distribution network, allowing any connected TV to become a live security monitor at the touch of a button. Hear a bump in the night? Tap your remote or touchscreen and instantly view live feeds from around the property—no need to pull out a phone or switch devices.

A Full-Spectrum Life Safety System

Security in this home goes far beyond cameras. We installed a comprehensive life safety system featuring:

• Door and window sensors, including garage doors, for complete entry awareness
• Multiple alarm zones, allowing different parts of the home to be armed independently—useful for determining whether to retreat from an alarm zone or investigate safely
• Heat sensors in attic areas, which monitor rate-of-rise instead of just high temperatures—this is critical in locations like furnaces or water heater closets, where early detection of fire risk can make all the difference

Unlike many low-voltage integrators, Miestro is fully certified to design, install, and monitor security systems. We have a licensed on-staff QA (Qualifying Agent), which means we meet or exceed all state requirements for alarm system installation and service.

Custom Media Room: A Multi-Experience Theater Built for the Whole Family

This media room wasn’t just another entertainment space—it was a deeply personal design, crafted specifically for how this family lives, watches, and connects.

The homeowner had one non-negotiable request: multiple displays to keep up with every game across every league—football, basketball, and beyond. At the same time, the rest of the family wanted a true cinematic experience, worthy of movie nights and streaming marathons.

The challenge?

The room had all the obstacles of a typical living space—hard surfaces, ambient light, and a design vision that had to stay consistent with the rest of the home’s upscale aesthetic.

Miestro accepted the challenge—and elevated it.

Audio Design: A Hidden Powerhouse

The audio system in this room is stunningly powerful, yet elegantly discreet, built around a Dolby Atmos 5.2.4 configuration that delivers full immersion from every direction.

• Front Soundstage: A custom Sonance soundbar—engineered by their sister company James Loudspeaker—provides rich, directional sound from beneath the main display
• Rear & Overhead Channels: Sonance invisible speakers in the ceiling and rear walls handle surround and Atmos duties, completely hidden from view
• Subwoofers: Two JL Audio IWS in-wall subwoofers paired with a 1,000W JL amplifier deliver room-shaking, theater-grade bass—without occupying visible space
• AV Control: A Marantz AVR anchors the system, processing high-resolution formats and directing the complex audio routing required for this type of layout

The result is an audio system that fills the room—but never interrupts the design.

Visuals Without Compromise

The main viewing surface features a 100” ambient light rejection screen paired with a high-performance Epson UST (ultra-short-throw) projector. This combo defies expectations—handling ambient light with ease, and producing bright, vibrant images even when the lights are on.

But for the sports fan? We added more:

• (4) 50” Samsung Frame TVs are mounted cleanly across the media wall, each fed from a 4K 8x8 HDMI matrix
• Every display is managed and coordinated using custom Control4 programming, accessed via a 10” Control4 touchscreen or keypad scenes
• Whether it’s four games at once, a blockbuster movie, or TV audio routed to the whole-home speaker system, the room adjusts at the push of a button

Media Wall Meets Acoustics & Architecture

This entire AV experience is mounted into Miestro’s custom fabric wall system—a sleek, modern solution wrapped in acoustically transparent Onyx fabric. Behind the surface? Layers of engineered sound absorption that tame the room’s natural reflectivity and hard surfaces.

The fabric wall doesn’t just look good—it’s doing serious acoustic work, calming echo and improving clarity without visible panels or treatment.

Lighting & Environmental Control

This room also includes a flush Klus linear lighting system, mixing 1” and ½” mud-in tracks across the ceiling for dramatic, yet unobtrusive illumination. Every circuit is tied into the Control4 system for perfect presets based on activity.

• Movie Mode? Tap the “Watch Movie” scene and the motorized blackout shades lower, the lights dim, and the AV system powers on
• Game Mode? Set up all displays, raise the lights, and enjoy every second of the action

Thanks to the performance of the UST projector and screen, the client can leave the shades open and still enjoy a stunning image, making the room equally useful for daytime viewing or casual evenings.

This media room is a perfect example of what happens when technology meets thoughtful design. It’s a space that serves every member of the family, adapts to multiple needs, and delivers a top-tier experience—without sacrificing the architectural beauty of the home.

Their team didn’t just furnish the media room—they curated and styled the entire home, providing pieces that perfectly complement each space’s architecture, lighting, and overall aesthetic. From elegant seating in the living areas to functional luxury in the bedrooms and beyond, every selection shows an incredible eye for balance, scale, and livability.

In the media room, they delivered a custom sectional that’s equal parts cozy and striking—designed for entertaining, gaming, or just stretching out for movie night. The central coffee table not only anchors the layout, but also plays with light in a surprising way: the reflections from the Klus linear fixtures above create a beautiful mirrored pattern on the ceiling, adding depth and ambiance to the space.
